Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, VA, and United 93, which fell in Somerset County, PA.

With at least one of these attacks hitting close to home, Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera and president Jason Wright represented the organization earlier this week as the two visited the 9/11 memorial at the Pentagon.

Rivera and Wright laid a wreath at the site honoring the victims and those who lost their lives. The Washington coach described the feeling of being at the memorial site while also recalling where he was when the attacks occurred in 2001.

"One of the secretaries had her TV on, and we caught a glimpse of what was happening," Rivera said at a press conference following the visit. "You really do reflect. It was a powerful thing."

Before the team's game Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, Washington plans to recognize those affected by the 9/11 tragedy in a pregame ceremony.
