Washington LB Cole Holcomb Announces ‘It's Mullet Season'

Washington LB Cole Holcomb announces 'It's mullet season' originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

As Washington Football Team linebacker Cole Holcomb returned from an injury in Week 6, it was clear he brought with him an intense and bruising style of football that the position had been missing. That was obvious in Week 7 when he sent Ezekiel Elliott into another universe.

Something else Holcomb has brought back is a hairstyle that isn't seen too often anymore. Not since the days of Billy Ray Cyrus and Randy Johnson has this type of flow been seen. How would Holcomb describe his look? Simple: Business in the front, party in the back.

“It’s mullet season, dude," Holcomb said on 106.7 The Fan's Grant and Danny.

Forget spooky season. Forget pumpkin spice season. The only season Holcomb observes revolves around his wild haircut.

The mullet isn't something that just happened for Holcomb, but rather a look that he has worked hard to style. When he heads to the barber, he makes sure that the directions are clear in terms of what he is looking for.

“We’re gonna take a little bit off the top but shave the sides down to a little skin fade," Holcomb said. "Do not touch the length on the back. We gotta keep it going.”

It's a hairstyle that seems to perfectly embody the second-year linebacker's style of play and flair. He flies around the field as fast and wildly as he can flip his hair.

In his last two games, Holcomb has recorded 11 tackles, two quarterback hits and a sack, and there is no reason to say that the mullet has not played a role in his strong performance. The good news for Washington is that the linebacker isn't planning on getting rid of it anytime soon.

“It’s mullet season, man," Holcomb said. "Going for it."
