Vernon Davis Will Spend First Year of Retirement on ‘Dancing With the Stars'

Vernon Davis retired from football earlier this year, and after an impressive 15-year career he might have an outside chance at the Hall of Fame. His career numbers put him in the Top 10 of almost every tight end category.

It appears Davis still wants some competition though. To scratch that itch Davis will join Dancing with the Stars this fall. A number of former NFL players have gone on the show, including Emmitt Smith, Von Miller and Kurt Warner.

Look, I don't know much about Dancing with the Stars. I don't know much about dancing. Davis does, and wants to continue his acting career, so this seems like a good way to do it.

From US Weekly:

The ballroom awaits! Us Weekly can exclusively confirm that Anne HecheJesse Metcalfe and Vernon Davis are all set to compete on the upcoming 29th season of Dancing With the Stars. According to sources, the three celebs will compete for the Mirrorball trophy when the season premieres on Monday, September 14.

Davis got close to a Lombardi Trophy playing with the 49ers in 2012, but never won one. Maybe he can get the Mirrorball instead.
