SEE IT: Juan Soto Has an Animated First At-Bat Against the New York Yankees

SEE IT: Soto has an animated first at-bat against the Yankees originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

At 22 years old, Juan Soto has proven to be an expert in all things inside the batter box. That includes having fun.

In his first at-bat against the New York Yankees on Friday, Soto didn't even try to contain his excitement at the plate. With each Matt Tracy pitch—whether a ball or strike—Soto swiveled, turned, and even wiggled in a show of pure joy and love for the game.

Who can blame him? When you're batting .283 on the season and coming off a year in which you finished averaging .351 from the plate, every at-bat is a chance to produce magic. This particular one didn't, but he broke through eventually, grabbing two home runs in his second start at Yankee Stadium and helping the Nats to a 11-4 victory over the Yankees.

Perhaps it is the youthful spirit, unfettered by the pressures of the Majors, that has allowed Soto to dominate so early in his career. That spirit certainly proved effective on Friday night, and it doesn't seem like it's going anywhere.
