SEE IT: Fan Photoshops Free Agent George Springer Into a Nationals Uniform

The Nationals are set to go into the 2020-21 offseason with a larger checklist than usual of roster moves to make. Perhaps chief among them is finding a bat to hit behind Juan Soto in the lineup.

A candidate to fill that role is soon-to-be free agent George Springer. Washington is expected to decline right fielder Adam Eaton’s $10.5 million team option for next season, which would open up a spot for Springer. One fan got creative in imagining what he might look like donning the Curly W.

After playing the first seven years of his career for the Houston Astros, Springer now has the chance to entertain offers for the next uniform he will put on. He’s coming off two of his best seasons as a hitter, which should put him in high demand even though he turned 31 in September.

Washington won the World Series in 2019 with the oldest roster in the majors. With many of those older players approaching the end of their contracts, the time has come for the Nationals to determine a new direction for their organization’s future.

If that future begins with Springer, at least fans have an idea of what it might look like.
