The NHL's expansion team, the Seattle Kraken, hasn't played a game yet but is already making history as the team announced the hiring of the NHL's first Black full-time team broadcaster.
Everett Fitzhugh joins the Kraken in a team broadcaster role where they expect him to be a major personality and voice of the team. Fitzhugh comes from the ECHL where he spent the last five seasons with the Cincinnati Cyclones in a dual role as the Cyclones' director of media relations and broadcasting.
Fitzhugh has spent the last decade working around the sport of hockey, and to be named a part of the broadcast and content team for a brand-new NHL franchise is a dream come true. Although this will not be the first time NHL fans will see Fitzhugh's face in the broadcast booth. During his time with the ECHL, Fitzhugh had the opportunity to guest-broadcast for the Washington Capitals as well as served on the broadcast crew for the 2018 CCM/ECHL All-Star Classic.
