Ron Rivera doesn't see Jabrill Peppers' hit on Kyle Allen as dirty originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
On the play that forced Washington quarterback Kyle Allen out of Sunday's game with a dislocated ankle, it appeared as if New York safety Jabrill Peppers clipped Allen with his leg.
Washington coach Ron Rivera saw exactly that, but what he didn't see was anything that was purposefully wrong. It was a freak moment, but he didn't believe that was any malicious intent.
“That’s what I say, he got cut and as he was going down he saw Kyle trying to boot outside," Rivera said. “Again, that’s just a guy trying to make a play. I don’t think it’s a dirty play, it’s a guy just trying to make a play."
"I get it, I’ve been there in that situation," Rivera said. "Peppers is a heck of a football player, he plays one hundred miles per hour.”
The timeline for Allen's injury is still unclear. Rivera said Smith would start in Washington's next game with Haskins as the backup.
