Report: NBA could still hold an All-Star game in March 2021 originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the 2021 NBA All-Star weekend in Indianapolis was canceled. The plan heading into the 2020-21 season was to hold All-Star voting, as usual, to recognize the game's best players in a given season, but without the annual game where they play head-to-head.
That plan could change, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, as the league is reportedly discussing scenarios where they could ultimately hold an All-Star game in March.
The ongoing talks have included Atlanta as a potential site for a game on March 7, per Wojnarowski's story. The NBA currently has a midseason break built into their schedule from March 5-10.
The idea includes providing support for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and coronavirus relief. NBPA president Chris Paul has reportedly been a proponent of the move.
Turner Sports, who has television rights to the All-Star game, is also based in Atlanta.
