Report: ‘Growing Sense' Deshaun Watson Has Played Last Snap for Texans

Deshaun Watson's time in Houston could be near an end.

The Pro Bowl passer has made it clear he wants out. And according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, there's a "growing sense" within the organization that Watson has played his last snap as a member of Houston Texans.

Watson's unhappiness has been one of the biggest storylines of the offseason. It appears his relationship with the team has gotten to a point beyond repair.

The signal-caller's anger started this past offseason, when Houston shipped All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and a fourth-round draft pick to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for an aging running back David Johnson and a second-rounder.

Still, the passer remained confident enough in the organization to sign a four-year, $156 million extension with the franchise this past August, a deal that includes a no-trade clause.

Then, once head coach Bill O'Brien was fired in October, Watson was told by higher-ups in the organization that he would have a say on the team's next head coach and general manager hire. Months later, Houston hired Patriots executive Nick Caserio as its general manager without consulting Watson. It also reportedly ignored a search firm's recommendation to hire Pittsburgh Steelers executive Omar Khan.

Watson also wanted the team to interview Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy for the team's head coach vacancy. Houston eventually did request to interview Bieniemy, but not until the coordinator had been contacted by multiple other teams.

Bieniemy remains available. But, with Watson wanting out, the Texans' job is about as undesirable as they come. Even former franchise legends Hopkins and Andre Johnson called out Houston for its handling of their star quarterback.

Despite winning the NFC East, the Washington Football Team remains in the mix for finding a franchise quarterback. In fact, head coach Ron Rivera said finding a long-term answer at the position is one of the franchise's biggest offseason priorities.

A trade for Watson remains unlikely for Washington, as other teams -- the Dolphins and Jets, specifically -- could provide Houston with better offers. However, elite passers like Watson almost never become available so it shouldn't surprise if Washington does at least inquire about what it would take to trade for Watson.
