Report: Former Wizard Isaiah Thomas in Talks With Multiple Teams About NBA Return

Report: Isaiah Thomas in talks with multiple teams about return originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Ever since the 2020 trade deadline, Isaiah Thomas has been looking for another opportunity to play in the NBA. That chance could be coming soon for the 31-year-old point guard.

According to Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes, Thomas is in talks with a "handful" of NBA teams about a return after recently switching agents.

Thomas played in 40 games for the Wizards during the 2019-20 regular season, starting in 37 of them. He averaged 12.2 points and 3.7 assists while shooting 40.8% from the floor and 41.3% from beyond the arc.

Once a two-time All-Star and MVP candidate with the Celtics, a severe hip injury derailed Thomas' career and kept him from playing at the level fans grew accustomed to from 2015-17. He reportedly had a second hip surgery over the summer, which has taken away all the pain from his hip.

While dealing with that hip ailment, Thomas wasn't able to blow by defenders and elevate at the rim in Washington, forcing him to become solely a jump shooter. If he can reclaim his ability to break down defenses off the dribble, there's no reason why he wouldn't deserve a spot on an NBA roster.

The Wizards traded Thomas to the Clippers at the trade deadline last season for Jerome Robinson. Los Angeles ultimately waived Thomas following the trade.
