Report: Haskins expected to make Steelers' 53-man roster originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
After a tumultuous 2020 season ending in his release from the Washington Football Team, Dwayne Haskins appears to have locked down a spot on an NFL roster once again.
Haskins is expected to make the Steelers' initial 53-man roster, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Pittsburgh signed him to a one-year, futures contract in late January and have decided to keep him on the team as a backup to Ben Roethlisberger.

The former first-round pick impressed through four preseason games, which ultimately earned him a spot as the No. 3 quarterback on the roster. He threw for 379 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while completing 38-of-51 pass attempts.
Haskins's NFL future was unclear following his release before last season even ended. He played poorly as Washington's starter (1-5 record, five touchdowns, seven interceptions) and had an incident off the field where he violated COVID-19 protocols in the lead-up to a crucial game.
However, Haskins has found a new home in Pittsburgh and will continue to develop behind one of the games best in Roethlisberger.
The Steelers will open their season on the road in Buffalo with a 1 p.m. kickoff against Josh Allen and the Bills.
