Report: Amar'e Stoudemire to Join Steve Nash's Coaching Staff With Nets

Report: Amar'e Stoudemire to join Nash's staff with Nets originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Steve Nash is the new head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, and it appears he'll be bringing at least one friend along for the ride.

Joining Nash's staff will be his former Phoenix Suns teammate and six-time NBA All-Star Amar'e Stoudemire, as the sides have agreed to a deal, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported Friday. Stoudemire will be an assistant coach for Nash, who is undertaking his first coaching job in the NBA.

The duo played six seasons together with the Suns, forming one one of the most lethal guard-forward combinations of the mid- to late-2000's. The 6-10 Stoudemire, who averaged 18.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and was one of the more ferocious dunkers of his time, last played in the NBA in 2015-16.

Now, the pair will be tasked with getting a Nets team to live up to the expectations that come with the return of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving from injuries and a roster with plenty surrounding talent.
