Ravens Activate 10 Players From Practice Squad as COVID-19 Replacements

Ravens activate 10 players from practice squad as COVID-19 replacements originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

The Ravens announced 10 players had been activated to the roster off the practice squad Wednesday in a record number of call-ups for one game.

The Ravens activated OLB Aaron Adeoye, TE Sean Culkin, LS Nick Moore, DE Chauncey Rivers, RB Ty'Son Williams, DT Aaron Crawford, QB Tyler Huntley, OL R.J. Prince, TE Eric Tomlinson, TE Luke Willson for the game against the Steelers after a massive COVID-19 outbreak in Baltimore.

Baltimore has just two inactives: Offensive tackle Jake Rodgers, who was just added to the team, and defensive tackle Brandon Williams, who is battling an ankle injury.

Running backs J.K. Dobbins and Mark Ingram, who were eligible to be activated off the Reserve/COVID-19 list, will not play.

So many replacements means a few things, of varying degrees of importance.

They’ll have a brand new tight end group with Luke Willson as the most experienced Raven of the bunch. He’s played in one game in his career. Otherwise, they’ll have a hodgepodge group without Mark Andrews (COVID) and Nick Boyle (season-ending injury) on the active roster.

The Ravens have a new longsnapper in Nick Moore, who replaces Morgan Cox who is on the COVID list. He’ll play in his first NFL game today.

Quarterback Tyler Huntley is active, but it’s unclear if he or Trace McSorley will backup starting quarterback Robert Griffin III. McSorley is the usual third-string quarterback, but has barely practiced in nearly two weeks since going on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Huntley’s activation signals that the job will be his.

If tackle D.J. Fluker is able to play, the Ravens’ offensive line might be somewhat normal with Orlando Brown Jr. at left tackle, then a mix of Bradley Bozeman and Fluker. There are still pieces to figure out, but either way, Prince figures to be the team’s backup swing tackle.

The Ravens also put safety Geno Stone on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Kickoff against the Steelers is scheduled for 3:40.
