National Zoo's Pandas Attend Latest Capitals Game as Cardboard Cut-Outs

National Zoo's pandas attend latest Capitals game as cardboard cut-outs originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

The Smithsonian's National Zoo & Conservation Biology Institute has the largest contingent of pandas who are Capitals fans, and on Thursday night three of them got great seats to watch Washington take on the Islanders. Well, their cardboard cut-outs did at least.

Pandas, Tian Tian, Mei Xiang and Xiao Qi Ji can all be found taking in the action as the Caps take on Barry Trotz and the team that knocked them out of last year's playoffs.

Earlier this month we learned that Xiao Qi Ji was a big Alex Ovechkin fan thanks to a great video of the cub playing with a very large hockey puck.

Entering their eighth game of the year, the Caps have yet to lose a game in regulation. At 4-0-3 they've worked around a depleted roster so far this season and earned some impressive wins over the Islanders and Sabres.

Can the pandas be a good luck charm as the Caps look to extend their seven-game points streak? We'll have to wait and find out.

The Capitals and Islanders begin their second matchup of a back-to-back Thursday night at 7 p.m. on NBC Sports Washington.
