MLB announces schedule changes; Orioles and Marlins to play four games in three days next week

Major League Baseball announced changes to next week's schedule for the Orioles and Marlins.

The Orioles were scheduled to play the Marlins last Monday in Miami, before a coronavirus outbreak on the Marlins derailed their entire week of games.

Now, the Orioles and Marlins will play four games in three days at Camden Yards from Tuesday, Aug. 4, through Thursday, Aug. 6. One of those days will be a scheduled doubleheader, though it has not been announced what day just yet.

The Orioles and Yankees game, previously scheduled for Aug. 5, will be rescheduled for a later date. The two will play again on Sept. 4-6 in Baltimore and then once again from Sept. 10-13. The game from Aug. 5 could be made up during that time.

"MLB will continue to follow a conservative approach in addressing positive test results because the health and safety of our players, employees and the public at large is paramount," the statement read. "We are in daily contact with the Players Association, public health officials, and our own medical experts in order to make decisions that will best protect individuals from being exposed to COVID-19. We will continue to provide further scheduling updates as necessary."
