Maryland's Star Freshman Rakim Jarrett Explodes for First TDs at Penn State

Terps' star freshman WR explodes for first two TD against PSU originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

There's a first time for everything. And for Maryland's star true freshman wideout, the second time was quick to follow.

Rakim Jarrett, the local elite receiver recruit who flipped from LSU to Maryland late in the 2020 cycle is enjoying one heck of a breakout game against the Nittany Lions, gashing Penn State with two touchdowns on nearly identical plays in the first quarter.

No, you aren't seeing double. Nor did the Maryland account accidentally tweet the same play twice.

The Terps enjoyed the Jarrett slant-to-the-house play so much that they decided to run it again, and saw the exact same success.

Jarrett finished the first quarter with just three catches but went for over 100 yards and two scores. And while Penn State may be the "big brother" in this rivalry, Maryland isn't coming to State College scared.

Jarrett has managed to make an immediate impact in this rivalry. Hopefully for Maryland, it's not the last blowup quarter in a long, successful career for the Terps.
