Logan Thomas Wonders If Tim Tebow Wishes He Switched Positions Sooner

Despite not playing in an NFL game for nearly a decade, former quarterback and Mets minor leaguer Tim Tebow is attempting an NFL comeback.

The catch? This time around, he's willing to move to tight end to get on the field.

When Tebow first entered the league, many evaluators suggested he try tight end rather than attempting to make it as an NFL quarterback. Despite being one of the most successful college players in history, Tebow's mechanics and accuracy were always a concern for NFL franchises.

Tebow didn't last long on the first go around, insisting he was a quarterback only. But reports surfaced last week ahead of the NFL Draft that Tebow was pursuing a comeback as a tight end with the Jaguars.

Logan Thomas, tight end for the Washington Football Team, knows a thing or two about making that exact transition. Thomas did enter the league as a quarterback in 2014 before ultimately switching to tight end two years later.

So, has his success - Thomas has 72 receptions, 670 yards and six touchdowns in 2020 - inspired Tebow to attempt his comeback?

"Maybe," Thomas answered with a laugh when asked about his influence on Tim Tebow on an upcoming episode of Washington Football Talk. "I don’t know that I would say I had any bearing on that, but you know Tebow’s always been a competitor, one of the greatest college football players of all time. He was probably sitting up [in the broadcast booth] thinking to himself ‘Man, I should have done this before when they asked me to.’"

Thomas made his transition two years into his NFL career, while Tebow is attempting his nearly a decade later. The Washington tight end finds himself wondering where both of them would be today if they'd committed to switching positions sooner.

"Where would I be if before I was drafted I switched to tight end then," Thomas said he wonders about himself and Tebow. "Hindsight’s always 20/20 they say. So far it’s worked out for me. And for him, I wish him the best of luck. Because not only is he one of the great football players, but a great man."
