The sports teams in the D.C. area all share a strong bond, cheering on one another during the most crucial moments of the season. So as the Washington Capitals embark on their Stanley Cup Playoff run, they have the support of their fellow athletes.

That includes channeling the Karate Kid spirit with headbands, something that the Capitals have used to celebrate wins all season long. Both the Nationals and Mystics shared photos of their players rocking the headbands to show some love for the local hockey team.

The headband tradition started early in the 2021 season for the Capitals, as head coach Peter Laviolette took his passion for the Netflix hit show Cobra Kai and used it as a way to instill toughness in his team. Following wins, the best performers on offense and defense are awarded headbands.

The relationship between the Capitals and Nationals is well-known, as the two were each other's biggest fans during their championship runs in 2018 and 2019.

In addition to the Mystics and Nationals getting in on the karate fun, plenty of other teams across the area sent their support as well prior to Washington's Game 1 OT-win over the Boston Bruins.

The Washington Football Team, Washington Wizards, Washington Spirit, D.C. United and Maryland Terrapins all made sure to let the Caps know that they will be rocking the red all postseason.

As Washington looks to take a 2-0 lead on Boston, they'll have plenty of support from fellow athletes in their corner.
