One of the most important aspects of the upper echelon of elite athletes is their competitive drive, win-and-nothing-else-matters mentality. From Michael Jordan's fiery edge as we recalled in "The Last Dance" to a guy like Tom Brady's endless drive, winning stands above all else.
Lamar Jackson made his intentions clear that he wants to belong in that elite group when he discussed becoming the second-ever unanimous Most Valuable Player and the end-of-season ceremony that came with it.
"I'd rather have made that speech on video," Jackson told King. "...I really didn't want to be on that stage."
After losing to the Tennessee Titans in the divisional round, Jackson is now 0-2 in his postseason career. Despite a record-setting season as a dual-threat quarterback, Jackson seems to only have winning on his mind these days.

In what would have been an especially proud moment to receive the MVP Award at the NFL Honors ceremony in your hometown in southern Florida, Jackson was left wondering what could have been. It was supposed to be his time to win the big prize with all his family and friends in the stadium. But in the end, it was Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Cheifs who hoisted the Lombardi Trophy in Miami with their Super Bowl LIV victory. That's what stings most.
Still, instead of focusing on his numerous professional accomplishments since getting drafted in 2018, he cares about winning. Instead of the fame and glory that comes with winning an NFL MVP Award, Jackson said to King that the best time of his life was winning youth football championships.
Watch out defenses, Lamar Jackson isn't happy with 0-2.
