The hope was that the Washington Football Team would see their most expensive 2020 free agent signing return to the field in Week 2 against the Cardinals, but a Sunday afternoon report says that won't be happening.

According to ESPN's John Keim, Kendall Fuller will not play for Ron Rivera's squad in Arizona. The corner has been battling a calf injury that dates back to training camp.

A few days ago, Fuller practiced in full for the Burgundy and Gold, which seemed like a very positive step toward him appearing for Washington. On Friday, however, he was listed as a limited participant, indicating that there may have been a regression in his rehab.

Without Fuller, Jack Del Rio's secondary will again rely on Fabian Moreau, Jimmy Moreland and Ronald Darby on the outside. Those three, plus the safeties, will be challenged by DeAndre Hopkins, Larry Fitzgerald, Christian Kirk and Kyler Murray.

Washington was able to succeed without Fuller in their opener, but the Cardinals' offense is healthier and deeper than the Eagles'. Del Rio's unit is going to miss him. That pass rush better be on point again to help the back end out.
