Jamin Davis Inactive Vs. Cowboys After Reporting COVID-19 Symptoms

Davis out vs. Cowboys after reporting COVID-19 symptoms originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

The Washington Football Team will be without its 2021 first-round pick when they take the field on Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys.

Rookie linebacker Jamin Davis was deemed inactive for Sunday night's game after self-reporting symptoms in line with COVID-19, the team confirmed to NBC Sports Washington's JP Finlay.

Washington was unable to process results from a COVID-19 test before inactives were due, so the club ruled out its rookie linebacker out of an "abundance of caution."

It's also worth noting that sources confirmed to NBC Sports Washington's JP Finlay that Davis was present at the scene of a fatal auto accident in which teammate Deshazor Everett was involved in.

A 29-year-old woman named Olivia S. Peters, the passenger in Everett's car, was taken to StoneSprings Hospital following the accident, where she later died. Everett was taken to the hospital with "serious but non-life-threatening injuries."

Davis was expected to play on Sunday night despite the accident. His absence is due to experiencing COVID-19 like symptoms, not the incident, according to the team.
