With their seventh overtime loss on the year, the Caps dropped out of first place in the Metro, while the Jets sit in fifth place in their own division out west.

CAPITALS VS. JETS PLAYERS TO WATCH

Capitals: Nicklas Backstrom, C (1 game, 0 goals, 1 assist): It didn't take long for Backstrom to get his first assist of the season, setting up Alex Ovechkin for a goal in his 2021-22 season debut. With Evgeny Kuznetsov in COVID-19 protocols, the Caps will need Backstrom to continue producing on the first line.

Jets: Kyle Connor, LW (28 games, 18 goals, 14 assists): Connor is one of two young Jets wingers leading the way for the Jes offensively. If the Caps want a win, it starts with slowing down Connor and Pierre-Luc Dubois.
