CAPITALS VS. SENATORS WHAT TO WATCH
From NBC Sports Washington's Matt Weyrich:
"Trailing 2-0 to the Detroit Red Wings late in the second period, the Capitals were searching for life. They were creating chances but no one, not even Alex Ovechkin on the cusp of history, was landing their shots. Enter: Nic Dowd." Read more.
"Even as he aged into his late 30s, the Great 8 has remained one of the NHL’s most potent goal scorers. As Ovechkin nears Howe’s total of 801 for the second most all time, it’s worth pausing to look back on how he reached the 800-goal club." Read more.
CAPITALS VS. SENATORS PLAYERS TO WATCH
Capitals: Alex Ovechkin, LW (20 goals, 16 assists in 34 games): Ovechkin paces the Capitals in goals, shots and points this season, remaining a consistent force for a Washington squad that has missed several key players due to injury.
Senators: Brady Tkachuk, LW (13 goals, 23 assists in 32 games): The Senators have gotten off to a disappointing start in 2022-23 but Tkachuk has continued to be the biggest star on Ottawa's young roster.
