The Capitals play host to the New York Rangers on Sunday as they look to stop a three-game losing streak with the regular season winding down.
Washington (34-33-9) enters the matchup with 77 points on the season, seven back of the Pittsburgh Penguins for the second Wild Card spot in the East. New York (44-21-10) has already clinched a playoff berth and, with 98 points heading into Friday's game against the Buffalo Sabres, still has a chance of surpassing both the Carolina Hurricanes (103 points) and New Jersey Devils (102) for a higher seed.
