Coming off a tough loss against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday, the Capitals are back in action on Tuesday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets in a game Washington must-win to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Tuesday night at Capital One Arena will be a celebration for Alex Ovechkin. The Capitals star will be honored pregame for passing Gordie Howe for second place all-time in goals, a feat he did earlier this season.

CAPITALS VS. BLUE JACKETS PLAYERS TO WATCH

Alex Ovechkin, LW, Capitals (65 games, 39 goals, 29 assists): Alex Ovechkin is on the verge of breaking history once again. The Great Eight's next goal will make his 13th career 40-goal season, passing Wayne Gretzky for the most in NHL history. Will he be able to do it against Columbus?

Johnny Gaudreau, LW, Blue Jackets (67 games, 19 goals, 46 assists): Columbus' prized free agent signing leads the team in points and assists. He's also fourth on the team in goals. Johnny Hockey will look to add to his tally Tuesday night against Washington.
