How to Watch D.C. United Vs. New England Revolution

How to watch D.C. United vs. New England Revolution originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Wins are much, much needed by D.C. United at the moment. The Black and Red are struggling mightily with the worst record and second-worst goal differential in MLS as we drift further into August. D.C. will play host to Eastern Conference rival New England Revolution on Saturday with hopes of reviving their squad.

There have been major shakeups for D.C. United of late, though, which could potentially change the direction of the club. First, the team hired former striker and soccer legend Wayne Rooney to take over as head coach. Just last week, the team made another big splash by signing former English Premier League striker Christian Benteke through the 2024 season.

Will Rooney and Benteke's arrival reignite a winning culture in the nation's capital? Time will tell.

D.C. United vs. New England Revolution: WHAT TO WATCH

Both D.C. United and New England are in desperate need of wins as the current MLS season draws on. The Revolution are fresh off a commanding 3-0 victory over Orlando, but before that the club hadn't come out of a match victorious since June 19. They're not in the worst position to be in, though.

D.C. United's biggest problem this season arguably has been consistency. For example, they've only won one of their last eight contests, ever since the disastrous 7-0 defeat at the hands of Philadelphia. Benteke's arrival should energize the forward group, but their defense leaves much to be desired as things currently stand.

D.C. United vs. New England Revolution: PLAYERS TO WATCH

Christian Benteke, Forward, D.C. United (4 goals, 25 appearances in 2021-22): Benteke arrives in D.C. as a highly-touted striker from the ranks of the Premier League, having played for Aston Villa, Liverpool, Crystal Palace and elsewhere. But will he fit into Rooney's system? Will he enjoy success in MLS? Saturday might be his first chance to prove both.

Gustavo Bou, Forward, New England Revolution (7 goals, 11 appearances in 2022): After struggling with injuries earlier this season, Bou has come out firing as he leads the Revolution with seven goals and 22 shots on target in 11 games. Can D.C. United keep him at bay?
