How Cardinals' Justin Williams Helped a Nationals Fan Redeem Himself

Nats fan gets second chance at HR ball, doesn't miss this time originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

When one Nationals fan missed his once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to catch a home run in Washington's 12-5 loss to St. Louis on Monday night, Cardinals outfielder Justin Williams made sure that fan got a chance to atone for his error.

After the fan dropped his first shot at a souvenir, Williams assisted a Cardinals fifth-inning explosion with a homer of his own, driven right into the lucky fans' clutches. There was no frustrated glove tossing this time around.

The fan avenged his mistake in a redemption story you'll see just once in a blue moon.

Of course, Nationals fans are no strangers to making headlines due to their catching skills. During the Nationals' 2019 World Series against the Astros, a fan made an amazing catch while holding two beers. It was so epic that Bud Light helped send the fan to Houston.

While there were less fans this time around, the odds of this fan getting another shot were remarkably low. Thankfully, the fan took full advantage.
