Giannis Antetokounmpo becomes part-owner of Brewers originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokoumpo can now add part-owner of an MLB franchise to his resume.
The NBA superstar has purchased an ownership stake in the Milwaukee Brewers, the club announced on Friday.

“We are honored to have Giannis join our team of Milwaukee Brewers investors,” Brewers owner Mark Attanasio said in a statement. “Giannis is a great athlete, a world champion, and a true local hero with international renown.”
Antetokoumpo is the first individual investor to join the Brewers' ownership group since Attanasio bought the team in 2005. The details of Antetokoumpo's minority ownership stake were not disclosed.
Drafted 15th overall in 2013, Antetokoumpo has spent his entire career in Milwaukee. He's captured two league MVPs, one NBA Finals MVP, one Defensive Player of the Year award and made five All-Star teams. This past season, he led the Bucks to their second-ever NBA championship, and first since 1971.
The 26-year-old has banked over $146 million in career earnings. Prior to the 2020-21 championship campaign, he inked a five-year, $228 million supermax extension to lock down his future in Milwaukee.
“The city of Milwaukee means so much to me,” Antetokounmpo said. “I am honored to be joining the Brewers ownership group to further my commitment and dedication to this great community. I take great pride in my city and I'm excited about what we can build together.”
