Dr. Fauci wears Nationals-themed mask before testifying on U.S. COVID-19 response

Dr. Anthony Fauci reminded everyone of his favorite baseball team on Tuesday, sporting a Washington Nationals-themed facemask as he and three other members of the coronavirus task force arrived to testify before a House Committee.

The mask was a collage of multiple Nationals logos and other designs of the team name.

During his testimony, Fauci said he believes a vaccine for the virus could be ready by the end of 2020 or the beginning of 2021. Should that happen, it would be record-time for the production of a vaccine.

In April, Fauci said that he wanted to see the Nationals play again, and offered a potential solution of how baseball could return amid the pandemic.

"I think you'll probably get enough buy-in from people who are dying to see a baseball game, particularly me," Fauci said. "I'm living in Washington, we have the world champion Washington Nationals. I want to see them play again."
