Donald Trump postpones throwing out the first pitch at Yankees game

As the 2020 baseball season began Thursday with the Nationals hosting the Yankees, we learned that President Donald Trump would throw out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium on August 15.

That reality appears to be short-lived, as Trump tweeted Sunday that he would have to postpone his first pitch until later in the season as he continues to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

Because of my strong focus on the China Virus, including scheduled meetings on Vaccines, our economy and much else, I won't be able to be in New York to throw out the opening pitch for the @Yankees on August 15th. We will make it later in the season!

Trump's announcement Thursday came within hours of the season opener, one in which Dr. Anthony Fauci threw out the first pitch at Nats Park. As most remember, Fauci's pitch was juuuust a bit outside.

It's probably best Trump to keep his focus on the pandemic as each professional sports league attempts to execute their seasons despite logistical nightmares and several health and safety concerns.

Given more time, it'll also help Trump practice a fastball a bit, because if he somehow throws a worse pitch than Fauci did we could be in store for an unproductive social media temper tantrum from the Commander in Chief.
