Deni Avdija Exits Game in Wheelchair With Apparent Leg Injury

Deni Avdija exits game in wheelchair following leg injury originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Wizards rookie Deni Avdija exited Wednesday's game against the Golden State Warriors with an apparent right leg injury which required him to leave the court in a wheelchair late in the second quarter.

Adding to the worry of all who were watching was the fact teammate Jordan Bell immediately rushed over to cover Avdija's ankle with a practice jersey. Avdija, however, did not appear to have a compound fracture or anything gruesome.

That, of course, doesn't mean it's not a serious injury. Avdija will now head for further testing, which barring something unforeseen will likely include an X-ray and MRI. Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard was shown on the NBC Sports Washington broadcast briskly walking back to the locker room to check on him.

Avdija, 20, was the ninth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. He has started 32 of the 54 games he's played this season.
