Daniel Jeremiah Says Chase Young ‘is a Complete Football Player'

Daniel Jeremiah says Chase Young 'is a complete football player' originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

While expectations were high for Chase Young heading into the 2020 Washington Football, somehow the rookie out of Ohio State exceeded them in his Week 1 performance against Philadelphia.

Right out of the gate, Young showed why he was selected second overall in this year’s NFL Draft and made his presence known on a strong Washington defensive line. That did not go unnoticed around the NFL.

“When you watch Chase Young, you look at the box score and you see the eight sacks for the Washington Football Team,” NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah said. “You see Chase Young with 1.5 sacks, but when I watched the tape, it wasn’t just what he was doing as a pass rusher. This is a complete football player.”

Jeremiah showed a highlight to support his argument that Young is more than just a stellar pass rusher. In one play from Sunday, Young was double-teamed against the run but managed to bypass both blocks, sneak inside and finished the play with a tackle. In another play, Young demonstrated his instincts and versatility by going downfield to make a tackle in the pass game.

Young showed he can do it all in Washington’s first win of the season and is far from a one-trick pony. He recorded four tackles, 1.5 sacks and a QB hit in his NFL debut, contributing to what Jeremiah called “one of the best fronts in the NFL.”

Football experts like Jeremiah believe Young is worth all the hype he’s received and is set to have a phenomenal rookie campaign if he can play like he did on Sunday.

“It’s very difficult for a rookie to get double-digit sacks in this league, but I will be shocked if he does not get double-digit sacks because of his ability combined with all the other players he has around him, including Montez Sweat on the other side who was outstanding in this game,” Jeremiah said. “They have the makings of one of the best fronts in the NFL.”
