Chase Young Thinks Taylor Heinicke Is ‘That' After Come-From-Behind Win

Young thinks Heinicke is 'that' after come-from-behind win originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Taylor Heinicke entered Thursday night’s contest against the New York Giants with just two career starts to his name. Washington’s backup-quarterback-turned-starter was taking over for the injured Ryan Fitzpatrick hoping to help his team avoid an 0-2 start.

He did just that, throwing for 336 yards and two touchdowns as Washington edged out New York 30-29. Heinicke threw a costly interception with 2:22 left in the game that allowed the Giants to take the lead, but he came back to lead a game-winning drive that was capped off by a Dustin Hopkins field goal as time expired.

The signal caller’s ability to make big plays and come through in the clutch left teammate Chase Young in awe.

“You can say he’s not that,” Young told NBC Sports Washington’s JP Finlay after the game. “You look at his performance, you got a good look at that. I think he is that. He showed it. He can be that. You know what I’m saying?

“Just to see what he did last year, came in and making plays. And to do that again today, what are we talking about?”

With Fitzpatrick landing on Injured Reserve this week, Heinicke will be relied on to lead Washington’s offense for a good chunk of the season. Count Young as one of his teammates that's buying into what Heinicke brings to the team.
