Capitals game against Devils on Sunday moved to the afternoon originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
The Capitals game against the New Jersey Devils set for 7 p.m. on Sunday has been moved up to 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on NBC. The game was moved up as the Lake Tahoe game between the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers has been moved back to 7:30 p.m.
As incredible as the views have been from the Lake Tahoe game on Saturday between the Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche, the sun has wreaked havoc on the playing surface.
The statement by the league on the time changes said, "The decision was made to change the start time of Honda NHL Outdoors Sunday between the Bruins and Flyers in the interest of Player safety due to Sunday’s forecast of sunlight with no cloud cover and unseasonably warm temperatures."
As the games in Lake Tahoe are a marquee event for the NHL, the league moved the Caps game so as not to conflict.
The news is not great for the Capitals who have struggled in afternoon games this season. In five games, they are winless with a 0-3-2 record.
Sunday's game will be the first meeting this season between the Caps and Devils.
