Capitals Announce 2021 Dates for ‘Reverse Retro' Alternate Jersey

Capitals announce dates for 'Reverse Retro' alternate jersey originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

The Washington Capitals unveiled their new "Reverse Retro" alternate jerseys in the fall, a design that combines the screaming eagle jerseys from two decades ago with the more red-centric colors today's Capitals typically wear.

On Tuesday, the team announced which games they will be wearing their new sweaters.

The Caps will be rocking this particular red on February 9 against the Philadelphia Flyers for their debut, and will also be worn on February 23 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, March 9 against the New Jersey Devils and March 16 against the New York Islanders.

Each date will be a home game for the Capitals.

"Reimagined in the patriotic colors of the flag, the iconic Reverse Retro jersey was unveiled in November 2020 and features the screaming eagle design," the team announced in a press release. "The jersey will remind fans of the 1997-98 Capitals team...Originally part of a Capitals re-brand that included switching to a lighter shade of blue, the patriotic sweater will be made in the current Capitals red, white and blue."

It's hard to go wrong with red, white and blue when designing jerseys for a team in the nation's capital, and this twist on a beloved jersey design looks like another home run for Washington.
