Broncos fill stadium with 'South Park' cutouts originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
With some NFL stadiums not having fans in attendance -- or limited capacity -- due to the coronavirus pandemic, teams have gotten clever with how they "fill" the seats.
Cutouts have become a popular option, and while some teams like the Ravens are having cardboard celebrities sit front row, the Denver Broncos have decided to pay homage to a popular television cartoon that is based in the area.
For their Week 3 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Broncos are placing cardboard cutouts of "South Park" characters.
The wildly popular adult cartoon show is based out of the fictional town of South Park, Colorado. The adventures of Cartman, Kyle, Kenny and Stan have constantly featured little moments in which the Denver Broncos are included in the shtick. Now, it appears the local football team is returning the favor.
The show has also been known to troll Tom Brady from time-to-time, so they picked the perfect Sunday to unveil their new plan.
Like the "South Park" theme song says, there will not be "friendly faces everywhere" for the Week 3 matchup.
The 2020 NFL season has forced teams to get innovative when it comes to creating an environment on gameday. Though it may not feature Randy Marsh screaming at opposing fans, adding in "South Park" to the new set of fans in the stands is a perfect idea.
As Cartman says, "Sweeeet."
