Bradley Beal to Miss Wizards' Game Vs. Hawks With Hamstring Strain

Beal to miss Wizards' game vs. Hawks with hamstring strain originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

After exiting Saturday night's overtime win over the Indiana Pacers with an apparent hamstring injury, Wizards guard Bradley Beal was ruled out of Monday's game against the Atlanta Hawks with what's been diagnosed as a left hamstring strain.

Washington announced Beal would miss the contest more than 24 hours ahead of tip-off. The All-Star put together one of his best performances of the season prior to the injury, totaling 50 points in 39 minutes. The win moved the Wizards into ninth place in the East, further increasing their chances of securing a spot in the play-in tournament with four games left on the schedule.

Beal's absence will further push the spotlight onto Russell Westbrook, who enters play Monday tied with Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson for the most triple-doubles in NBA history at 181. Westbrook tied Robertson on Saturday with 33 points, 19 rebounds and 15 assists against the Pacers.

The news of Beal's injury also has significant ramifications on the race for the NBA scoring title. Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry holds a slim lead over Beal for the highest average in the league, 31.9 to 31.4.
