Bradley Beal Looks Forward to Having Fans at Wizards Home Games

Bradley Beal has been enjoying one of the best seasons in Wizards/Bullets franchise history, but unfortunately, it has coincided with a season played mostly without fans. So far, the Wizards have not hosted any fans at all at their home games, despite some teams allowing small groups at limited capacity.

That will change soon, however, as the Wizards received approval by D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser's office on Friday to begin admitting fans at Capital One Arena. They will start with 10 percent capacity, or about 2,100 fans, likely on April 16, when they return home to play the Pelicans.

Now Wizards fans will be able to see the NBA's leading scorer in person.

"It’s definitely exciting for us," he said, adding: "We really miss our fanbase and our home crowd. It will definitely mean the world to us, coming back being able to play in front of some of our fans."

Beal also noted how D.C. had been as careful as any jurisdiction in relaxing their coronavirus measures to permit fans at sporting events. Bowser was showing more restraint than most mayors in making the decision, and just days before it looked like the Wizards may have to wait until next year.

"D.C. is always trying to be the example for the world. We’re definitely excited to be able to have fans back. Obviously, safety and social distancing is the most important thing here," Beal said.

"But we appreciate the mayor and everybody involved who found us fit to be able to have fans. It’s definitely overdue for us, we feel like."

The Wizards have 10 games remaining on their schedule, including a matchup with the defending-champion Lakers on April 28.
