Holtby, Ovechkin share moment before Capitals-Stars game originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
The Washington Capitals are taking on the Dallas Stars to kick off a two-game road swing, but more importantly, it marks the first time that former Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby faces Washington.
As the two teams were warming up on the ice, Holtby and captain Alex Ovechkin shared a moment greeting each other. Holtby played eight seasons in Washington winning the Vezina Trophy in 2016 and Stanley Cup in 2018.

Holtby would leave as the franchise's second all-time wins leader with only Olaf Kölzig having more. Since leaving the Capitals in 2020, Holtby hasn't had a chance to face his former team until Saturday as the 2020-21 season had teams restricted to taking on their division rivals.
Despite sharing smiles pregame, there's no doubt that Holtby wants to get one over the Capitals and prevent them from getting out of their slump.
