All about Wizards guard Spencer Dinwiddie originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Spencer Dinwiddie wasn't supposed to be an overly productive player in the NBA after getting drafted in the second round back in 2014, but that hasn't stopped him from having an incredibly successful career.

Dinwiddie flashed some promise during the first two years of his career in Detroit but really came into his own with the Nets, where he'd eventually become a 20-point scorer before landing with the Wizards in free agency.

Spencer Dinwiddie’s contract details with Washington

Dinwiddie came to the Wizards in a sign-and-trade with the Nets during the 2021 offseason. He's in the first year of a three-year, $54 million contract.

The final year of his deal (2023-24) is only partially guaranteed. $10 million of his $18.8 million salary that season is guaranteed, while the rest will have to be guaranteed by June 30, 2023. Dinwiddie also has $7.7 million of unlikely incentives that could be added on over the life of his contract.

What was Spencer Dinwiddie's injury?

Dinwiddie suffered a torn ACL just three games into the 2020-21 season with the Nets. He was just one of several injuries the Nets had to deal with last season, which ultimately derailed their hopes of winning a championship.

Once recovered, Dinwiddie was keen on finding a new home with Kyrie Irving and James Harden manning the backcourt in Brooklyn. Now he's fully healthy from that injury and continues to build chemistry with Bradley Beal.

What is Spencer Dinwiddie's role on the Wizards?

When Dinwiddie arrived in Washington, he became the fourth different starting point guard to play next to Beal in as many years, following in the footsteps of John Wall, Isaiah Thomas and Russell Westbrook.

Dinwiddie is known as a combo-guard with more scoring chops than playmaking skills, so his role has been helping facilitate the offense while acting as a secondary scorer next to Beal. When Beal is forced to miss a game due to injury, Dinwiddie typically takes over the scoring load in the backcourt.

Does Spencer Dinwiddie invest in cryptocurrency?

Dinwiddie is an avid cryptocurrency investor and is known to have invested in Bitcoin. He also co-founded his own crypto company named Calaxy, which aims to let fans buy tokens associated with their favorite players.

Before the start of the 2021-22 season, Dinwiddie revealed he tried to pay a large sum to get a Calaxy patch on the Wizards' game jerseys. However, the NBA declined his request.
