Chase Young arrived in Washington in the spring of 2020 with higher expectations than any Burgundy and Gold player in recent memory. Washington selected the star pass rusher second overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, hoping the former Ohio State star would turn into one of the league's most talented defenders.
Young immediately hit the ground running as a rookie, recording 1.5 sacks in his NFL debut, a Washington victory over the Eagles. After a groin injury slowed him down early on, Young finished his rookie season playing excellent football, earning NFL Defensive Player of the Month for December. The then-22-year-old entered his sophomore season with even higher expectations, ones that were not met. Young recorded just 1.5 sacks this season before tearing his ACL on Nov. 14, an injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the season and the start of the 2022 season.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, Chase Young is through two seasons of his rookie contract worth a total of $34.56 million. Young's contract was fully guaranteed at signing and worth an annual value of $8.64 million.
