Albert Haynesworth says he received life-saving kidney transplant originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington
Back in July of 2019, former Washington Football Team defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth announced he was in "dire need" of a kidney after his had failed.
Earlier this month, Haynesworth shared on Instagram that he finally received that much-needed transplant in April.

"So I would like the world to meet what a real living Angel looks like," Haynesworth wrote. "Everyone please say hello to my donor @packzenny. This kind hearted selfless human being drove seven hours from Arkansas to give me one of his kidneys! This is one of the happiest days of my life next to the birth of my kids. We need more people in this world like Zach i’m striving to be like him."
Haynesworth's donor was Zach Penny, a physical therapist based in Arkansas. Per Haynesworth, he drove seven hours to Vanderbilt, Tennessee, for the procedure.
According to TMZ, Haynesworth believes the origin of his kidney failure had to do with taking anti-inflammatory shots prior to every game of his decade-long NFL career.
"Now I feel better, I see changes in my body," Haynesworth told Paul Kuharsky. "Now I am kind of discovering a new norm."
Over the course of 10 NFL seasons (seven with Tennessee, two with Washington, one split between New England and Tampa Bay), Haynesworth appeared in 123 games, starting 92 of them. The now 39-year-old finished his career with 30.5 sacks and 348 tackles.
