Minor Treats: Fredneck Night at Harry Grove Stadium

The Frederick Keys hosted "Fredneck Night" at Harry Grove Stadium on Friday. Drink specials, a barbeque with "Dukes of Hazzard" star Ben Jones -- aka Cooter --  a Daisy Dukes lookalike contest and free pony rides allowed fans to let their inner "Fredneck" out.

The Frederick Keys are the High-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. They play at  Harry Grove Stadium in Frederick, Md. Harry Grove Stadium opened in 1990 and seats 5,400.

For those wondering, the Keys are named for Francis Scott Key, who is a Frederick County native.

Ben Jones, better known as "Cooter Davenport," hung out and signed autographs for fans for the duration of the Keys game. He also hosted a barbeque and showed off the famous General Lee.

On top of the Fredneck celebration, Orioles top prospect Manny Machado was promoted to the Keys on Thursday. Machado drew quite a crowd himself, as many fans were eager to see the young prospect play.

In addition to the Keys, Frederick is also home to the Flying Dog Brewery. Older fans in attendance were able to take advantage of the local brewery's drink specials.

Those fans who were more concerned with keeping the kids happy weren't disappointed either. Young Keys fans enjoyed a playground, carnival games, a merry-go-round in right field and a mime on stilts roaming the concourse.

They Keys lost 5-1, but the night certainly wasn't lost on the fans. With a packed stadium, a celebrity appearance and one of Orioles rising stars getting settled in -- everyone was shaking their keys for the Keys!
