Gio Gonzalez, Jayson Werth Have Heated Exchange in Dugout

This may come as a shock to you, but the Nationals have won four straight games for the first time since July 4-7 (though even after Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Giants, they have only gained a half game in the NL wild card race).

During that win Tuesday, Jayson Werth and Gio Gonzalez had a little spat in the dugout, the result of a blown double play opportunity that Werth believed fell apart because Gonzalez did not hustle to first to cover for Adam LaRoche.

After the game, both Werth and Gonzalez (who may have tweaked his back on the play, which contributed to his lack of hustle) refused to comment on their argument, but Davey Johnson explained it away.

“Oh, just a little camaraderie going on," Johnson told reporters. "Jayson sometimes can get a little vocal. He thought that Gio was a little late covering first, and he was.

“Spirits are high. I like it. It’s no big deal.”
