WEC 36 Video: Mike Brown: ‘I'm a Bigger, Stronger, Better Fighter Than Urijah Faber'

WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber says in this video that he's the best fighter in the world at 145 pounds, and almost all mixed martial arts observers agree with that. But Faber's opponent at Wednesday's WEC 36 show, Mike Brown, has a different idea:

"I think I'm a better fighter," Brown says. "I'm bigger, stronger, I hit harder. ... This is definitely the most important fight of my life. I've got plenty of experience. This is the top, this is my shot."

Brown is right that he's bigger than Faber, as Faber is on the small side for a featherweight -- he'd have no trouble getting down to 140 if he wanted to. And Brown is probably stronger. I'm not so sure that he hits harder.

But more importantly, I don't believe for a minute that he's a better fighter. I'm a fan of Brown's -- he's in my MMA Top 25 -- but Faber is a unique talent who dominates the featherweight class to almost the same extent that Anderson Silva dominates the middleweight class. Faber will show again next week that he's one of the world's elite MMA fighteres.
