Sidney Crosby's Non-Response to Alexander Semin

Though it took the better part of a week, Shelly Anderson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette got around to asking Sidney Crosby about the comments that Washington Capitals winger Alexander Semin dropped in an interview with Dmitry Chesnokov at Puck Daddy last week.

In short, Crosby refused to play along:

"I saw them," Crosby said of the quotes. "I'd be better off keeping my opinion to myself, I think. He can say what he wants, but I'll keep mine to myself about him."

[...]

"It's not the first time," Crosby said of criticism involving him. "It probably won't be the last. The sad part is every time somebody brings up something about me, I have to answer about them."

[...]

"I think he's a good player," Crosby said [of Semin]. "He's got great hands."

And for now, with Semin still ducking the press when it comes to questions about the interview, the story will go into suspended animation, only to be picked up again on January 14, 2009, when the Pens host the Caps at Mellon Arena.
