Sergey Golyaev Beats Takanori Gomi at World Victory Road Sengoku 6

Takanori Gomi, the Japanese fighter considered one of the best MMA lightweights in the world, suffered a stunning upset at the hands of the Russian Sergey Golyaev today at World Victory Road's Sengoku 6 event.

The split decision loss is a very disappointing showing for Gomi, the former Pride lightweight champion. His record falls to 29-4, and it's the latest sign that the 30-year-old Gomi isn't the fighter he used to be; his last fight was a lackluster decision over Seung Hwan Bang, and his only fight in 2007 was a loss to Nick Diaz that was later turned into a no contest when Diaz failed a drug test.

In other World Victory Road results, Jorge Santiago and Satoru Kitaoka won the event's two tournaments, and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira beat Moise Rimbon by unanimous decision.
