Evgeny Kuznetsov Still Undecided On Future

It seemed like Washington Capitals prospect had made up his mind. He said in a Russian television interview that he was planning to stay in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) instead of moving to the NHL and suiting up for the Caps, who selected him in the 2010 NHL Draft.

Then, the 19-year-old Kuznetsov's agent said no decision had been concretely reached.

Now, even Kuznetsov is refuting his own claims.

Saturday, after his Traktor Chelyabinsk squad advanced in the KHL playoffs, Kuznetsov admitted that he was not entirely truthful when publicly announcing his decision. As translated by Russian Machine Never Breaks:

Renat Ibragimov: Was the decision to remain in the KHL final?

Evgeny Kuznetsov: Honestly, I want to be left alone with this question. It would be better. I said I was staying so they’d leave me alone. And you just asked me the question for the first time in two weeks [laughing]
