Enjoy a “Night OUT” at Nationals Park Tuesday

The Washington Nationals return to action Tuesday in yet another interleague matchup against the AL East (their fourth straight with one more remaining) as they begin a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Tuesday, the Nats are hosting Team DC's eighth annual "Night OUT," one of the largest LGBT events in professional sports.

"Night OUT" has also taken in Mystics, Wizards and Kastles games, but it is returning to Nationals Park after more than 3,300 people came last year.

Here are some of the highlights (via the Nats):

  • Congressman Jared Polis (D-CO), one of only four openly gay Members of Congress, will throw out the Ceremonial First Pitch
  • The National Anthem will be performed by the Gay Men’s Chorus, who will also be recognized on the field before the game for their tremendous contributions to Night OUT and the LGBT community
  • Benjamin Jealous, President and CEO of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will deliver the lineup card
  • Play Ball Announcement by D.C. Metro Police Sgt. Brett Parson, former head of the Gay and Lesbian Liaison Unit

So come on out to the ballpark Tuesday, enjoy a game and help a good cause.

That is, if you don't melt first.
