After rejecting a deal with the Washington Redskins in December, the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors has reconsidered and agreed to a two-year marketing partnership.
The county will spend $250,000 over the next two years and will brand itself the Skins corporate home.
Board Chair Scott York abstained, and the do-over was approved 5-3-1, The Examiner reported.
A plan to pursue a possible Redskins hall of fame in the county passed 7-2 but isn't a binding agreement. Fairfax County also expressed interest in the hall after Loudoun rejected the marketing partnership in December.
Supporters of the partnership (and the hall) hope it will bring Redskins-related tourism business to the county, so the $250,000 will come from restricted hotel tax funds, according to The Examiner.
The team's corporate headquarters has been in Loudoun since 1992, and the summer training site is in Ashburn.
